## Can you still fax at Kinko’s?
“Kinko's fax” searches refer to the business now called **FedEx Office**. FedEx's [official history](https://www.fedex.com/en-us/about/history.html) records its acquisition of Kinko's in 2004 and the FedEx Office name in 2008. Use the current brand and location information when planning a visit.
A generic FedEx shipping result does not establish access to an Office self-service copier. Use the [FedEx Office location finder](https://local.fedex.com/en-us/office), then ask that branch whether faxing is available during your visit. Check the relevant service rather than only whether a map lists the business as open.

## How self-service faxing at FedEx Office works

### 1. Confirm the branch and prepare the packet
Call ahead for availability, hours and the complete quote. Bring the signed document and the recipient's current direct fax number. Ask how the store handles a digital file and whether printing or another preparation step adds a charge.
Check signatures and attachments before traveling. Count every document page, including informative backs of double-sided originals. The recipient's rules determine what belongs in the packet; the store's fax service does not validate an application for you.
### 2. Follow the payment pre-authorization
FedEx describes a pre-authorization based on the planned page count and says unused balance returns to the original payment method. It also lists cash payment cards available at the counter. Confirm the accepted method and displayed amount before proceeding.
A pre-authorization is different from the final amount charged. Keep the receipt and ask the branch about its policy for failed attempts, partial delivery and retries. Returning unused balance does not, by itself, establish that all unsuccessful fax attempts are free.

Do not use an advertised copying or printing rate as the fax rate. A fax involves transmission as well as any preparation. If you also need copies, binding or scanning, ask for those as separate items so you can decide which services you actually need.
### Illustrative ten-page calculation
At a hypothetical $1.89 first-page rate plus $1.59 per additional page, ten billed pages would total $1.89 + (9 × $1.59) = **$16.20** before tax or preparation. This is illustrative arithmetic, **not a verified FedEx rate**.
